Create your 2025 walking goals
So the New Year has started and welcome to it.
To be honest, I had my goals preset just before the New Year and when the New Year hit, I didn’t start straight away like I was expecting to.
So what are my goals and how am I going to achieve them?
Basically, this year I want to lose my remaining weight of 10 kilos. (I did put on 4 kilos over Christmas so chuck on that extra weight and I have to lose 14 kilos).
I have literally lost an extra 14 kilos previously just by walking. I didn’t change my eating habits, I just walked. It took a year because I only walked 10,000 steps every fortnight so I was only losing weight every fortnight. Not weekly.
Again, I feel this is pretty good considering I didn’t focus on eating only carrot sticks to lose weight.
So however you plan it, just note it the time to lose the weight may take longer. So do not get discouraged. Because, for me, once the weight is off, I am culling my bigger clothes and will never return to the previous weight I was at. Anyway, that’s for another blog post.
So what’s the steps (mind the pun) to achieve my weight loss goal. My aim is 10,000 steps a day. This is a goals post, what is your goal for this year? Is it to lose a certain amount of weight (and be realistic in how much weight you want to lose) or is it just to be healthier? Or maybe like my travel blog you want to have the stamina to walk long distances to explore? So write down your goal.
Now break down your goal. How are you going to achieve it? Are you going to do a certain amount of steps of walking a day? Are you going to walk x amount of steps one week and a certain amount the following week? Are you going to try something different? Write down your steps.
Then write down when you want to achieve this. For example I want to lose 14 kilos by 31/12/25. Technically, I want to achieve it by 30/6/25 but I am giving myself another six months just in case. Because the last thing I want to do is add pressure to my goal and then fail at it due to stress and then using overeating as a stress reliever.
