Is walking getting harder to do?

Image
Image via: Pinterest So I don’t know but it seems like every day I have been walking less even though I am walking for at least an hour.  It appears it’s actually getting harder each day to meet 10,000 steps.  I know I am being hard on myself and life does get in the way sometimes but I really thought if I made the effort, especially to prove to myself in the first week that I could achieve big walking numbers that I would succeed.  So my first day was brilliant, I did 12,000 steps. Second day it dropped to 6,000. Lesson learnt, I kept going. Day three 9,900. So close to 10,000 steps which is my daily goal and definitely a ‘step-up’ (mind the pun) from the day before. Then the next day 8,000. Ok not too bad. And today 7000. 😢 I know it’s all just making time to walk and obviously I need to walk purposely for more than an hour a day but it’s hard when the day is already full.  Please comment below if you have any tips to help me boost my steps. Thank you! 🤩...

Set-up your podcasts

Image via:  https://rachelcorbett.com.au/blog/podcast-logo/ Hi there,  I decided to maximise my walks by listening to podcasts. I have never really listened to many podcasts so this will be a new experience.  I literally typed podcast into YouTube’s search engine and found a heap to add to my walking playlist. The good news is they are about an hour long which is what I am aiming to walk.   Normally I would listen to music but I am keen to give it a go. It may be tricky when I am close to a lot of traffic due to the noise but we shall see.  Let’s go!

Testing, testing day two

Image
Image via:  https://theincmagazine.com/the-history-of-10000-steps/ When you first set out to exercise day one is fully pumped, yet it’s what comes next which is most important.  Day two. I thought I would go for a walk for an hour and I assumed in that time I would walk 10,000 steps. Because yesterday I went for a longer walk and reached 10,000 steps…. Oooh, I just worked it out. This makes sense now. After my walk today, I got home, all proud of myself. I checked my step counter and I had done 6,000 steps. I was disappointed and I didn’t want to go back out for a second walk.  But as I said above, I just realised why an hour didn’t give me the result I was seeking. Because yesterday I went for an hour and twenty minute walk which gave me the 10,000 steps not an hour. Oh silly me. Oh well.  Anyway, what I wanted to say was, did I achieve my goal when I said I wanted to walk 10,000 steps a day and I only walked 6,000 steps?  The answer is yes. Here is why....

Day one of walking

^The above image is me, during my walk.  Hi there, So I am so excited because I decided to go for a walk for an hour and a half. I had the spare time. I nearly didn’t do it because it was 30 degrees outside. But I bought myself no sugar Gatorade for every day this week. So if it is hot, I can rehydrate.  And in this walk, I took a scenic route and did over 10,000 steps and over the whole course of the day, I did over 12,000 steps. I was very tired by the end but I also felt so proud of myself.  I could have stayed home but instead I went out and achieved my daily goal. I am aiming for minimum 10,000 steps a day.  I tend to walk this many steps every second week but every first week I barely do 5,000. So I know walking extra every day, I see a great benefit. Also I mentioned I lost 14 kilos as well and my blood pressure, which was high for a year is now looking good after a year of walking. Proving there are many benefits to walking and losing weight.  Have a gre...
