Go for a walk somewhere new
If you are like me and just need to start walking after a decent amount of time, walk somewhere new.
I went to this new place and heard kookaburra’s laughing so I went for a look up the trees but couldn’t see them. But they were there laughing and that was the start of my awe-inspired journey.
I went for a walk somewhere new and it was fun. I was like a child going to a new location for the first time and just soaking in every bit of nature the place could offer me.
It was beautiful.
And then as the walk continued, my mind started to clear up and this is why it’s so important to walk outside some days. To just clear your head and sometimes go through some tough mind situations and just deal with it.
I had a sign from three butterflies dancing around me to uplift me when I thought I was going to down in thoughts. Butterflies I once heard are past loved ones letting you know everything is ok.
And to be honest, I really needed that sign at that time. Even though I had my head phones on I could hear nature all around me. I saw many different types of birds and the greenery around me just inspired me. I even thought, I could write a book about this scene.
Writing a book has definitely not been on my wish list for a long time after burning out from writing and self-publishing 10 books, being a freelance business writer and writing and publishing my own online magazine. So when people say will you write again, for a long time the answer was either no or maybe down the track.
But here my mind was like, Mel, you could write a book about this. Like it was a fun thought! Just popped up out of the blue and I smiled at the thought. I welcomed it back. I might not write a book right now, blogging is my focus right now … but maybe one day I will write a book again…. Or maybe sooner? Who knows… I don’t even know.
But the important point of this blog is, it’s so good for your body and mind to get outside and go for a walk. You can really work on self-development, think about and brainstorm your goals or just enjoy the scenery.
Plus the bonus, I came home and didn’t feel too puffed but had done a 5,000 step walk. Talk about feeling proud of myself since I haven’t walked in awhile but also I wasn’t going to go for a walk. I was comfortable on the couch watching Netflix.
But I keep seeing this Facebook post and it says something like, if someone was with you for a week would they see you working towards your goals. And that has stayed with me because I have walking goals and I want to walk but I actually have to make it happen if I want these goals to become a reality.
I am feeling so proud of myself and I hope you have this same feeling after you do some walking. Also, did I reach my 10,000 step goal? Nope. But it’s a start and I can’t wait to restart my journey.
